Frequently Asked Questions

It is not that I'm lazy to answer every time, but I thought it would be nice to put everything in one place ^^;

I'll just write some that come in mind right now, but I might add other question-answers in the future that might pop-up in the comments. So, if you're curious about anything related to my art or myself you can ask freely in the comment section.

1. What tools/program do you use?
I usually mention the tools I use in the deviation description. But in most cases I use the GIMP program with a wacom (intuos4 small) graphic tablet for digital art (animation included) and watercolor pencils in "any kind of paper" for traditionals.

2. Did you go in school "for this and that" or are you self taught?
I went in AKTO college in Athens for "Fine Arts". I'd draw mangas and some flip-book animations way before that. I didn't feel the school changed my art in any good or bad way. I mostly went there to have some kind of diploma.

3. Since when have you been drawing?
Since "forever". In preschool time I remember trying to draw the illustrations from my brother's school books (he's 5 years older by the way). Maybe it was then when I started loving both writing and drawing stories - which ended up to become "I want to draw mangas".

4. Since when have you been doing animations?
I think that the first flip-book animation I saw, was my brother's (when I was in first grade.)
I drew the first one in third grade maybe. I remember seeing the phases of a bird flying and a rabbit's jump in a school book. I took the 2 "key frames" from that and would draw several other "2 frame animations" to "play" with when I was bored in school.
Then with Sailor Moon, in 1995-1996, since I didn't have a video-recorder, I drew the different transformation/attack sequences from memory, and made some originals along the way too XD

5. How do you make your animations?
I also mention this in the deviation descriptions. I have these 3 tutorials for that:

starca.deviantart.com/art/GIMP…

starca.deviantart.com/art/How-…

starca.deviantart.com/art/Basi…

6. How do you make the animations to look so fluid?
The "secret" in that is to move the "objects" as little as possible (without a big gap in between). Also, even though I draw every single frame, the base of it is like a "stop motion" animation - in which I use parts of the previous frames and move them a bit every time. That helps in keeping the sizes the same throughout the whole scene.

7. Do you have any favorite OCs (original characters)?
Yes, I do. But they're still "unpublished" to the world. My biggest dream is to make them (and their story) well known some day.

8. Will you do free requests/art-trades/collaborations etc some day?
I want to. But before my OCs make their debut, I don't plan on giving extra time for that. For now, in first priority are the commissions (to survive XD) and my mangas (to reach my dream)
